The Mayan Secrets by Clive Cussler with Thomas Perry was an Audible listen. As always, it was narrated by the amazing Scott Brick. It is the fifth installment in the Sam and Remy Fargo Adventure series which falls in the thriller/adventure sub-genre.
This time, Sam and Remy Fargo are chasing down Mayan secrets (thus the title), dodging drug lords, bringing down an international playgirl celebrity, and rewriting history of the Mayans in the process. As always, the premise and situations are completely unrealistic and unbelievable but as always, completely enjoyable to listen while walking the dog. I will also admit that I truly loved the international playgirl getting her due by the end of the novel.
These are novels you pick up and read or listen to when you want to escape reality. They are well written and enjoyable. They aren’t going to tax your intellect or inadvertently teach you anything but you will lose yourself in a good romp across the globe in search for answers.
Five stars out of five possible stars for keeping me entertained and engaged.
