Death of A Nurse by M.C. Beaton

Death of a Nurse by M.C. Beaton will be published by Grand Central Publishing on February 23, 2016.  This was a Net Galley read and falls squarely in the cozy mystery genre.

I hereby confess I failed to finish the book.  It was my first Hamish Macbeth book and my last.  This is the latest installment in the long running series.

To be blunt, I didn’t have the patience or inclination to read and decipher the thick Scottish accent Hamish is written in.  Something about the overall character of Hamish was just grating and annoying.  His womanizing and condescending attitude that anyone else could find love just rubbed me the wrong way.

One star out of five because of the incomprehensible accent and a protagonist I most definitely wouldn’t want to sit down and share a beer with.

  1. I love the Hamish MacBeth and Agatha Raisin books! Well, the older ones. Once they started pumping them out at a faster pace, the writing was choppy and just not that good. Almost feels like someone started ghost writing them for her or something. Anyway, had to give Hamish a little love. šŸ˜›
