Benjamin Franklin in London by George Goodwin was a Net Galley read. It will be published 16 February 2016 by Yale University Press. It is a biography.
I hereby confess I stopped reading a quarter of the way through the book. It takes supremely bad writing to make Ben Franklin boring. The book is a technical marvel but dry as dry can be unfortunately.
Ben Franklin was never boring and yet if you read this book you will come away with the impression that he was as dull as dirt. Frankly, I stopped reading because I felt sorry for Ben Franklin. This reads and feels like a book a history professor wrote to be published and nothing more. There is no great love for Ben Franklin and no understanding of his personality.
One star out of five, save yourself and read anything else about Benjamin Franklin!
